Sakai Virtual Research Environment
Sakai is a novel, modular collaboration environment which allows projects to develop custom online environments. As well as collaboration tools such as discussion, chat, content alerting and a wiki, it has a full suite of tools to support online and distance learning.

The TLRP and CARET, University of Cambridge are undertaking a JISC-funded evaluation of Sakai as an environment for supporting and enhancing the work of collaborative social science research. The CARET website on this project can be found here.
