Introduction
TLRP has a partnership
agreement with Routledge books. This supports the smooth
production and coordinated promotion of three types of publication.
Improving
Learning series books, providing overviews for users
of all sorts
Routledge will publish, in association with the TLRP, a series of
books aimed at users - e.g. teachers, LEA advisers, FE and HE tutors,
workplace trainers, etc. Entitled the Improving Learning series,
the books will be practical in focus and underpinned by the TLRP
research. This is the major focus of the partnership and a publication
of this sort is a TLRP expectation for every project. Initial discussions
on these books should be with the appropriate member of the Directors'
Team.
Supplementary
books, primarily for academics
TLRP researchers may wish to publish higher-level supplementary
books based on their research. Editors at Routledge will be delighted
to consider for publication all book proposals. It seems that monographs
may be more likely to be published than edited collections. Colleagues
with suitable edited collection material might wish to consider
the possibility of a special issue of an appropriate journal (see
the TLRP partnership with Taylor & Francis). Proposals accepted
for publication by Routledge will carry covers with TLRP branding.
Discussions on these books may be made direct to Routledge or via
the Directors' Team.
Improving
Practice series (A4) books, primarily for practitioners
Routledge will also publish, in association with the TLRP, a number
of A4 books containing practical and/or photocopiable material for
education practitioners. Again, those accepted for publication by
Routledge will carry covers with TLRP branding. Discussions on these
books may be made direct to Routledge or via the Directors' Team.
Proposals
Routledge has produced a helpful 'Guide
for Authors'
All book proposals should be submitted using the Routledge
proposal form available here.
Contracts
TLRP has negotiated some improvements in the normal contractual
terms offered by Routledge and authors are advised to check that
they are offered these (subject, of course, to final negotiation).
