Steering Committee

Strategic management of the Programme rested with a Steering Committee of academics, practitioners and other users chaired by Professor Sir David Watson (1998-2003) Vice-Chancellor of the University of Brighton and Professor Sir Bob Burgess (2004-2009), Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester. The Steering Committee was accountable to the ESRC Council through its Research Priorities and Strategic Research Boards.
The Committee Secretary in the formative years of the Programme was Gary Grubb.
Operational management was provided by the Programme Team led by Professor Andrew Pollard, based at the Institute of Education at the University of London (see Management).
