Life beyond the TLRP: A conference for contract and
early career researchers
The TLRP Research Capacity Building Network (RCBN) invites contract and early career researchers engaged in TLRP projects to a two-day conference to reflect upon the issues affecting research capacity in the current educational research climate, and develop strategies for the future.
Unprecedented in recent educational research in the United Kingdom, the coordinated initiative of the TLRP has brought together considerable existing expertise in teaching and learning research. It has also enabled the entrance into educational research for a number of early career researchers. The capacity building function of the TLRP, including the work of the RCBN but also within individual projects, has actively sought to enhance this expertise. This conference asks to what extent has this function been successful for contract and early career researchers, and what will become of the expertise that has been developed beyond the life of the TLRP? Participants will be encouraged to think about their own experiences in the light of the current socio-political context of academic professionalism, as well as consider papers representing the experiences of a number of current or recent contract researchers. There will be opportunities to develop strategies for the future of educational research collaboratively, and to communicate these to a panel of people with a direct interest or responsibility for educational researchers.
There will also be opportunities to raise the awareness of the expertise that researchers bring to the TLRP and develop networks amongst each other. In particular, all participants will be encouraged to make a short presentation about the work they undertake in their TLRP projects.
If you are interested in attending this event, then please contact the RCBN or complete a booking form (available from the RCBN website). All contact details are below.
This event is open to researchers from the TLRP, and all reasonable travel and other costs will be met by the RCBN. Accommodation, food and refreshments are included.
